Xbox 360 gaining USB storage support in 2010 update

Taken directly from Joystiq-Link
"Documentation obtained by Joystiq – and subsequently confirmed with two separate sources – reveals that "USB Mass Storage Device Support on Xbox 360" will soon be a reality. The document, authored by a senior software development engineer at Microsoft, states that due to "increased market penetration of high-capacity, high throughput USB mass storage devices, a 2010 Xbox 360 system update" will allow consumers to save and load game data from USB devices. The update is purportedly coming in Spring 2010. Once the update occurs, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Xbox Live Arcade games, Xbox Live Indie games, Games on Demand, DLC and Title Updates to the storage device. "USB storage devices may, however, have far greater memory capacity than MUs (at the date of writing, the largest MU is 512 MB), and may therefore support previously infeasible operations-such as installation of a full disc-based title." That's right, you can also store disc-based games to the USB device; however, it will require the disc to be in the tray for authentication, identical to the current functionality"
Well this all sounds great but there is a catch - No matter the size of the USB the maximum usable amount of memory is 16GB - not the greatest however still a lot better then the crappy sized Microsoft memory cards. This will most probably spell the end for the Microsoft memory card business but I don't think there ever was a big one anyway - I just wonder if they will try and put any limitations on using the memory stick on a computer and transferring your profile and items across - as we all know what that leads to!

It's still to early to say but I for one am glad to hear its finally being implemented - I get tired of having to carry my Memory card around just to play on my profile, but A memory stick is usually with me all the time anyway.

"If you're intent on circumventing Microsoft's cutthroat hard drive pricing the Xbox 360, you can use two USB storage devices for a maximum of 32 GB of usable storage; however, the console "has a fixed limit of two external USB mass storage devices" regardless of whether they're "formatted for the Xbox 360 or not." If you fill all three USB ports on the console, only the first two to be connected will be recognized."

Gears of War 3 - EARLY 2011 release

So we all knew it was on its way, but with no information how long until it got to us? I won't lie I have never been the biggest fan of the series but I know alot of people are so without further ado

Gears 3 could be finished as early as this year! but don't expect it until next.

Microsoft doesn't want it to clash with Halo: Reach or Natal, go figure!

so does that mean that 2011 is going to be THE year for gaming? (just like every year for the last forever has supposed to?)

Camping for Killstreaks - The death of Warfare

WARNING! excessive truth ahead

So unless you have been living under a rock for the past forever you will probably played a match or two of Modern Warfare 2.

Sure its the biggest and best game ever released (or so I have been told) I still feel there is a lot wrong with it.

From the second this game was released I would guess that over 90% of the FPS market shifted from COD4 and WaW (try playing them now, there are never more than a few hundred people per playlist) This creates quite a problem for us gamers.

I'm sure that most of you will agree that you have played atleast one match and at some point said 'THAT'S BULLSH*T" at something that has happened to you, you got knifed by the guy you were shooting, you were clearly around the corner when you died and that grenade DEFINITELY followed you... don't get me started on predator missiles (they always aim for me you know)

The hardcore players will easily shrug off these problems - Its just the way the games made - Probably some lag, ah never mind. but to me and you I hope - that just can't be true.

When you look at it, its customizable kill streaks and the option to stack them. every game you get the kid who sits by the bomb with his ACR constantly aimed down sights or the guy in the corner of the room with the silenced UMP.

YES I understand that you don't want to die when you are 1 kill off of your Chopper Gunner but MAN doesn't having to traipse back to kill the same person over and over get a bit boring? that's what this post is getting at - Have any of you tried going back to WaW or 4? the games are just so much more fast paced, you get more kills and more deaths and the game is over before you know it - you don't get people camping because they know once they pass 7 kills that chopper or those dogs are the last thing coming!

now im not saying the way to fix this is to just run and gun in MW2, that would just get you killed by all of the campers! haha just try to have a bit more fun, its a game - not the end of the world

/Rant

Have fun everybody!

Back from the dead!

Sorry for the long break everybody!

There have just been so many great games recently that none of us have been able to update with anything.

Bioshock 2
Heavy Rain
Final Fantaasy XIII

am I forgetting any?

Expect some more content in the next few days - See you all soon

The Saboteur Review

Written by Tony A.K.A Biggerandbetta

This is my Review on The Saboteur, the last game by pandemic Studios
just to say... What A way to end! :P

i'm gonna do things different this time and put this review into 4 parts
story
graphics
sound
gameplay

Right to Start off with is Story

you play as sean devlin a man from ireland and from a series of events hes now living in paris, this is set during world war 2 so expect to see nazi walking around.anyway once you get into the game your see something that changes sean's life. he is then apporched by the leader of the french resistance who ask's for sean's help to liberate france. not to spoil it but theres some awsome missions and an epic story line that never seemed to bore me

Next is Graphics

From when i started to play this game i didn't have a HD t.v but for christmas i got 1 and from what i played of it after i got it i can say the graphics are decent enough you can see things clearly enough, from the way they set this game in paris you get to really see what paris was like in world war 2. you have all the monuments that are in good detail & and the people in the game Graphics are solid too

SOUND

In the Saboteur the sound is awsome expecialy with the old cars they all sound authentic, the gun shooting on the other hand is a different story i think they got a bit lazy on that end. but who am i to judge, also theres some classic music to listen to while driveing around and the sound of those songs are good it makes you think your in world war 2 paris. very realisic

Gameplay

This game has your basic GTA style
complete a mission to progress, drive here, run there, but theres a change that makes you detect a hint of assassin's creed because you can climb building's, the only thing that i found tricky to get the hang of at first is the shooting controls you have no auto aim so your always pin pointing your enemies wereabouts which isn't a problem once you get the hang of it

Anyway to end this Review i would rate this game a SOLID 9/10
only on the fact that it's not long enough and i hope there will be a 2nd game
if you haven't got this yet your missing out... by far one of the best game of 2009

Happy BIRTHDAY Robin A.K.A SOZAGES

FROM Tony & Mark... Not Josh since hes in new zeland with you... LUCKY Bitches lool

Since Josh & Robin are on holiday thats leaves me & Mark in charge untill jan... Anyway I no this is late but heres my review on Dragonball: RB

Written by Tony Matthews A.K.A Biggerandbetta

I no this is late but just bare with me... Anyway just to say im a big fan of the dragonball series so all this is what i think about the game. Right Dragonball: Raging blast is basicly budokai tenkaichi 4 but the fighting styles has chaged quite a bit for example the basic moves like the Kamehameha and sprit bomb are all controld by the right stick. i no it's not that big of a deal but it kinda gets annoying when your fighting and your finger slips and your stuck doing some stupid move...

anyway i'll start with the story mode, it's pretty much the same as ever, you know sayian, namek, cell, buu saga's which is all well and fun but theres something a bit extra this time the what-if sega's (which basicly is storys that could have been) and with the addition of the what-if sega's it brings two new characters ( well basicly 2 new transformations) that are ssj3 vegeta and ssj3 broly. which IMO is pretty cool i've always wanted to see vegeta go ssj3. Anyway to rap things up about the story mode, Theres like 100 fights you can do which should last you some time...next onto my thoughts about the online modes

1st of all you got your basic modes, player and ranked matches but theres a world tournament which is all fun. 8 people from around the world compete to take the title and an achievement worth 30g lol. theres only 1 big problem with the online and that is Spammers, i basicly gave up playing online ranked games, all the matches you fight a spammer. i had no problem beating them it just gets annoying. If you play it you'll find out for your self... lool

Right to rap this review up cos it's like 1 am and i gotta be up at 8am for collage. i'll leave it saying Dragonball: Raging blast is the best dbz game so far its fun story mode and fighting your friends online but because of the same storys lines ( they could add more characters and transformations) and the people you fight online spam all the time i rate this game 9 outta 10 :p

P.s if you got this game and wanna fight me i'm pretty good at it i've beaten the rank 1 and most of the top 50 players. if you fancy a fight just send me a message online i'll be happy to fight you

Remember... No Russian - The war on controversy

So I just completed Modern Warfare 2, including the 'controversial' No Russian mission.

I guess its obvious that some people are not going to like it, I mean you watch as hundreds of innocent civilians are gunned down in front of you, and you are asked to partake in it.

I think anyone can see why its not the prettiest of missions. For this reason however I have found literally hundreds of people condemning the level, and in some cases the entire game because of it.

Most of the arguments I have heard are based on the fact that "Why didn't Pvt Allen just shoot Makarov?" or "they would have known that Makarov was Russian" well as easy as that sounds, I don't think its that simple.
You take the role of Pvt Allen, now working a deep cover operation as one of Makarov's right hand men. In the debriefing before the mission you hear Shepherd telling you that he needs much more of you, and that you will lose a part of yourself - but its all for the greater good... right?

I think to those of you that have completed the game will understand that Shepherd isn't the most stable of men, mostly working on the principle of 'Just get the job done'
Even in the first level, Shepherd calls in an airstrike on a building - one of the Rangers states - 'aren't we danger close?' to which another replies, 'Since when did Shepherd care about Danger Close'

Your role is to infiltrate Makarov's terrorist cell by any means necessary - the information that Makarov holds is worth alot more to the American Government than the dead body of another terrorist. Couple this with the fact that a British SAS agent, along with some US Marines gunned down Zachiev - Whom Russia has named a martyr and hero, the tension between US and Russia seem even more strained.

Well that's my take on the "why"

then there is the whole 'But why did Russia invade?'
First of all I'm guessing that they didn't take kindly to the massacring of an entire Russian airport, take this and add in a dead US CIA operative - I think any government would jump to conclusions, but add in the fact that the Russians are still a bit pissed that Zachiev is dead and we have reason for a war! Makarov clearly made it look like an american attack, remember... No Russian? they don't speak a word of Russian throughout the entire level - then leaving an American behind as the scapegoat.

All in all I think the level is brilliant and adds so much to the story - I mean who didn't just hate Makarov a whole lot more after you watched him murder countless innocent people?

bottomline, the option is there to skip it, if you don't like it, don't play it!

COD: WAW MAP PACK 3

TONY.

well i know this is a little late but... who cares :p. first of all if you hav'nt got this map by now you should because it's awesome 10x better then the others.

To tell the truth in my opinion the thing that makes this worth the money is the the new zombie map DER RIESE which means (The Giant) even though some people thought it meant zombie factory. Anyway this map is very difficult due to the fact it shows COD:WAW & NAZI ZOMBIES in a new way for example you get to upgrade weapons in the PACK-A-PUNCH machine, this increases your guns fire power and speed also DER RIESE has a new way to get around the map with the help of teleporters ( which involves you having to link them to a mainframe) but thats not hard and can be done in earlier rounds.

Apart from that there's a new weapon you can wield, called the MONKEY BOMB ( if you've played left 4 dead and you have seen the pipe bomb it works in the same way). The bomb basically distracts the zombies and lures them to it with it's song and after about 5 seconds it blows up, taking all the zombies with it :P Think pipe bomb from left 4 dead, just happier.

me and the other inbetweengamers say thing same about this map. It's the best outta the 3 and the zombie map is proof of that.

I'll do a review on the online maps since i get a proper chance to play them been spending most of my time on DER RIESE lool.

Mothership Zeta - Review

Well its done, the final DLC is out, and to be honest... I think its a bad way to go.
enough of that for now lets get onto the review.

Well it all starts the second you step outside vault 101, you pick up a strange new signal to investigate as with all of the DLC (bar Broken Steel).

Due to this you can set foot onto the wastes for barely 10 minutes and chose to be whisked away into the stars. I do however strongly suggest you get in a good few levels before trying, high teens is an absolute minimum if you ask me, more on that soon.

so you make it to Recon Craft Theta, those emergency beacon has strangely been amplified to cover the entire Capital Wastes, and see no immediate differences. Once you get close enough to the ship you are picked up by a giant tractor beam and begin you slow, blue glow filled, 50's cliché abduction! floating rocks and all.

Story Synopsis – Minor spoilers
after a pretty disturbing blurry vision probe you will black out again and wake in your cell with fellow wastelander Somah, this is where he story begins. you quickly think up a fool proof scheme to escape and follow through with it by beginning to beat the crap out of eachother, and then turning on your little green guards as soon as the shield door comes done, as mentioned before its all very cliché. I won't give away too much story but you find your salvation in a little girl called Sally who knows the ship like the back of her hand, and despite having lost her entire family in the great war of 2077 (yes she is still a little girl) seems extremely happy, this proved quite annoying to me as everytime I followed one of her requests she would pop up splurting her super happy fun comments... I don't know maybe she just needs some friends (or a psychiatrist)

after traversing the completely linear hallways (with the ever helpful guidance of Sally) you will come across a dilemma, this will cause you to need to go out into space for a short while, oh and as chance has it there is a spaceman in cryo-stasis on board (along with a Samurai, Cowboy and Anchorage Medic, each of these people seem to be of at least decent use in certain areas, modifying alien biogel to heal humans, pumping lead into alien skulls and slicing their way through pretty much anything. Despite their seeming usefulness ultimately it will come down to whether you want to fight to keep THEM alive against the horribly overpowered aliens or just kill them yourself and get some unique weapons and armour, good character or bad I'm pretty sure you all know the best choice.

after murdering your way through cryo-labs, weapons research labs, robot assembly and don't forget the livin quarters you will have a final face off with the captain. I won't give to much away but after your not to friendly encounter you will come to the great finale! Which I would love to talk about but dont really want to give away the ending, lets just say this could be a hard a hard battle if you are on your own, having to fend off aliens from behind and an entirely giant new threat ahead, afte dealing with both your will be able to beam yourself back to earth. Congratulations you are back on earth and away from the evil ship, but was it all worth it?

Weapons and Combat

On-board Zeta you will find a some new w

eapons, all with a unique variant hidden somewhere on-board. When I say some, I really mean

some – There is one melee weapon, 2 energy, short and long and a heavy energy weapon. You

will find some

other weapons from Earth's past and a couple of other unique weapons but they all leave a little to be desired. These weapons, while not that effective at all, are practically the only weapons useful on Zeta as the aliens seems pretty resistant to human technology, don't let that stop you pumping a 12 gauge into their head though, that's still pretty effective ;).

Armour is all but non-existent on-board the ship as the aliens bullet stopping armour would be just too small for you, sorry. The only armour you will find is that which you loot from your dead friends so best bring your own.

Finally there is one of my biggest gripes. The completely over powered enemies. Where most of the aliens will go down like most strong enemies, all to often you will bump into a predator like almost invisible enemy, wearing his super strong energy shield. While exactly the same as the other aliens on-board this armour leaves them as one of the strongest enemies in the game, taking more than 3 direct Tesla cannon hits to put down.

While I understand bethesda putting these in to give the player a challenge, I think I speak for everyone when I say a strategic enemy that takes cover and flanks is much more fun then a half invisible bullet sponge that makes you use more stimpaks than a behemoth.

Environment

While refreshingly new and different from the bleak old wasteland the perfectly sterilised and shiny interiors of Zeta are just too different yet to common. The wow factor quickly wore off as I found myself traversing the same corridor multiple times and think oh look that pipes on this side now, and, where did the orange fluid tubes go?

Sure its different, sure its fun, but it gets old a lot faster then the vast wasteland.

Even the much awaited space-walk was a let down, I was outside for 2 minutes having to do a menial task and then straight back inside, I think maybe a little bit of dirt and grime here and there wouldn't have gone a miss

I haven't Really included an exploration Portion this review, this is because it's practically non-existent. The only thing you will be searching for are the unique alien weapons and the Capture logs for the Achievement... Let me tell you - this alone sucked most of the fun out for me, only to find at the last minute I had missed 1 and couldn't go back as the doors had become INACCESSIBLE... yeah great work on that one huh? my advice is to either use a guide or just do it on another save some time - don't waste the time or stress searching.

Overall

Overall I think Mothership Zeta is a bit of a let down, as for the last big DLC, sure it has that big difference thing going for it, I mean who would have guessed fallout would have aliens, but as for actual interaction with them, I think it would have been best left untouched.

If you are looking for a DLC as linear as anchorage with no sign of a story and enemies harder then Broken Steel then go for it, but for me... I wish they would repeal that 'No-Refunds' Policy.

8 for Effort but come Bethesda is this really it?

Did I mention there about 5 different loots to find, 2 enemy types and practically no exploration?

We at Inbetween-Gamers give Zeta

5 / 10

best choice? Hardly.

Modern Warfare 2 Prestige edition announced!

Okay so I'm two days out, who cares! have you seen the prestige edition? real night vision goggles!

Prices for US are currently speculated around $150... if these goggles are any good I really doubt it will be that cheap. I read somebody saying in the $400 region - that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Still a UK price wil probablly be another USD - GBP straight conversion, ala Rock Band so I'd say be ready to shell out quite a bit for this one.

We are looking somewhere in the £99 - £119 region on this one.

Modern Warfare 2 becomes Call of Duty again!

JJ

So it's been a while but everyone heard that Modern Warfare 2 had dropped the Call of Duty prefix. Well guess what... It's back!

That's right everyone, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty had been added back to the title, along with what looks like a new box art (which is rubbish by the way ;) )

I much prefer the older Promo case (Which I posted some shots of in an earlier post)

Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series. Infinity Ward, the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has said from the beginning Modern Warfare 2 resides in the Call of Duty universe. This is reflected in the title's package.
